It is common to start by asking "how many guards do we need?" The better first question is "what are we protecting, and from what?" A site review answers that, so the guarding you pay for is aimed at the real risks.
1. It shows where the real risks are
A review looks at entry points, fencing, lighting, blind spots, stock and asset locations, and past incidents. It often finds that a problem is concentrated at one gate, one shift or one part of the site, rather than everywhere.
2. It gets the roster right
Once risks are clear, guard numbers, hours and post locations can be matched to them. Some sites need a static guard at a key access point; others are better served by mobile patrols and alarm response at a lower cost.
3. It uses what you already have
Existing CCTV, alarms, access control and lighting can reduce how much manned guarding you need, but only if they work and are covered by a response plan. A review checks these systems and shows where small fixes make a big difference.
4. It gives guards clear instructions
Findings from the review become the site instructions: patrol routes, check points, who is allowed on site and what to do when something goes wrong. Guards with clear instructions are more effective from their first shift.
5. It gives you a baseline
With a documented starting point, you can measure whether incidents drop and adjust the service as your site changes, instead of guessing.
